When I met Melissa and Callum for their engagement shoot back in August, two things struck me: firstly, how romantic they are with each other. Secondly, how insanely photogenic they are. They were true to form on their wedding day at the atmospheric Rowantree in Edinburgh. This venue was at the same time a dream to photograph in, and my worst nightmare. No natural light whatsoever! Loads of candles, casting an orange hue... multicoloured spotlights everywhere... and on the other hand, an amazing other worldly atmosphere... vows by candlelight... bridesmaids carrying lanterns instead of bouquets...! Nevertheless, I was grateful for a very sunny Autumn afternoon, and for the fact that Melissa and Callum trusted me enough to hike it up to the Royal Mile for their portraits. Though we had to loose Melissa's Badgley Mischka's for that!
I loved all the personal, unusual touches that Melissa and Callum had added to their big day. Starting with the morning, when Callum had a parcel delivered to Melissa's apartment containing letters from her relatives from the States. Quite a few tears were shed! They also met before the ceremony (behind the door!) which made for some great pictures. There wasn't a cake, but a stack of pancakes... as a reminder of their first date, when Callum made crepes for Melissa. Yep, he did.
Melissa & Callum. Truely loved your big day... and how gorgeous and happy you looked. Thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome. Knox family, you are a good laugh!
