The smell of a wooden fire. The mountains. The water of the loch lapping onto the shore. The Highland atmosphere. The sense of history. I fell in love with Glenfinnan House Hotel almost ten years ago, when Gary and I chose it as the venue for our own wedding. So forgive my bias - but I do believe that this is quite possibly the loveliest wedding venue in Scotland. I was absolutely thrilled to shoot Jennifer and Ronnie's wedding here in October last year. It was a smaller wedding and a real family affair, the best of house parties - with lots of laughter, in gorgeous surroundings, and with amazing food.
It was a real joy to work with such a lovely relaxed couple, who are so obviously in love! The weather was a bit hit and miss, and it was very wet when I first arrived in the morning - but we were able to grab some photos outside in the sunshine just before and after their ceremony, thanks to Jennifer and Ronnie being really flexible about seeing each other before the ceremony! I always think that the clouds add to the atmosphere, anyway.
Ronnie's uncle officiated the very heartfelt and personal ceremony in the drawing room of the house. I loved the rich red and green colours everywhere, and Ronnie's blue suit! Such a refreshing change from the usual black.
Jennifer & Ronnie, many thanks for allowing me to capture your wedding day for you, it was a true pleasure and I enjoyed getting to know you and your families a little! Much love to your little family and please do keep in touch.
